He married twice. He married Mary Ann P. Boothe Lawrence Co., Arkansas, May 28, 1851.⁽¹⁰²⁾ Mary was born about 1833 Arkansas.⁽¹⁰³⁾ He married Sarah Kellett Lawrence Co., Arkansas, January 15, 1861.⁽¹⁰⁴⁾ Sarah was born about 1833 in Tennessee.⁽¹⁰⁵⁾

Joseph A. Boyd and Mary Ann P. Boothe had the following children:

63 i. Amanda S.³ Boyd⁽¹⁰⁶⁾ was born Arkansas about 1853.⁽¹⁰⁷⁾

64 ii. Susannah E. Boyd⁽¹⁰⁸⁾ was born Arkansas about 1854.⁽¹⁰⁹⁾ She married Luke Tatum.

65 iii. William R. Boyd was born Arkansas about 1856.⁽¹¹⁰⁾

66 iv. John Jeremiah Boyd⁽¹¹¹⁾ was born Arkansas about 1858.⁽¹¹²⁾ According to Peggy Harvey, who submitted an inquiry to the Arkansas Family Historian Queries in Vol. 20, No. 2, June, 1982, John was born April 7, 1859 and his middle name was Jeremiah.

Joseph A. Boyd and Sarah Kellett had the following children:

68 vi. James A. Boyd was born Arkansas abt 1864.⁽¹¹⁴⁾
